Rhythmic Forms

Rhythmic Forms presents a playful way of using unusual materials through traditional and non-traditional techniques. Through experimenting with colour, texture, form and scale was the starting point of this project.

By distorting the original meaning and forming a new, refreshing and innovative design creates a more memorable and meaningful outcome by allowing us to recognise familiar surrounding forms within these pieces.

Infusing the idea of work and play together by creating maquettes to visualise my collection within a design forms a more active environment in which creates a happier environment to work in.

Through the use of softer and lighter materials against the rustic and authentic wood encourages the viewer to engage more with their surrounding by using their sense of touch and sight.

Playful Nostalgia

Reflecting upon my earliest memories of when I was a child surrounded by shaped blocks and a range of tactile surfaces, my theme "Playful Nostalgia" draws upon this idea. Through holding, touching and interacting with these nostalgic objects an emotional durability was created. Allowing my garments to adopt this idea a series of new aesthetic possibilities was formed.

Experimenting with unusual materials that  are not associated with traditional textiles or fashion to form wearable pieces resulted in a futuristic, playful and tactile feel to this collection.

Colour Composition

Processes that informs the design as well as effects the emotional attachment of a product is affected by colour. The interaction between colour, texture and surfaces are endless. However, some colour and textures impacts and engages the viewer more than others such as combining vibrant colours expresses power and wealth while subtle, light and cool colours such as blues and greens creates calming and natural responses. Having a keen eye for colour, texture and form is an important aspect within all of my designs.
